How to apply for federal jobs
There are numerous jobs open on the federal government website:
usajobs.opm.gov
You have to create a login and a profile. You can edit your resume for each position you apply for.
After creating your profile, click on Search Jobs. After running a search, when you look at each job there will be several tabs: overall description, duties, qualifications, how to apply, etc. There may be a lot of detailed directions that have to be followed, but it weeds out people who aren't really motivated or qualified.
There are many civilian jobs with the Armed Forces, but the other agencies have jobs too. There are also summer internships / summer jobs for students on the site now. You have to check it once a week because new openings come up all the time.

I have an account with usa.jobs, and I have applied for jobs that I knew I qualified. But one of the issues I face when applying for jobs on this site is that US veterans have priority over civilians and I spkoe with a Human Resource representative who also stated to me that some of the jobs are strictly for veterans. I have many family members who have or are currently serving in some branch of the military, so I don't have any problems supporting those who have served.
However, the problem I do have is that many of the civilian jobs rank very...very high in status, job title positions, and level of experience needed. I married to a spouse whose retired, and I'm not old enough to collect retirement benefits at the present time and therefore need to work. I went back to school to obtain a degree to make myself and my resume more marketable and yes...I did apply for internship and recieved NO REPLY!
I was working a partime job, but in ran out. I've been looking for full time work since 2008 and I started looking one-year before my graduation and still haven't been able to find anything or anyone that's proven helpful to my needs. SO MUCH FOR HIGHER EDUCATION! A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE!!! Now I'm indebt with student loans, no job, no income, not even unemployment.
I'm still looking for work, I can't go back to school again with a student loan that's already in default and the collection agency making impossible demands.
