I have been unemployed sense 5/6/1009. I have been an Electronics Tech for the last 30 years. I looked into training unemployment, but I am over qualified for this. I have signed up for unemployment and I am very actively looking, but what if I don.t find something?

Hi Bob,
Thant's a hard question, but stay positive! Fortunately you'll have the support you get from unemployment for a good while, but i know that probably doesn't pay all the bills. it's a time to look carefully at your budget and cut all the unnessary costs you can. Perhaps something part-time can help. Also, consider volunteering at the United Way or another agency. It's a great way to network for job leads and it helps build your resume. it never hurts to show you haven't been sitting on your hands and that you are engaged productively in the community. Speaking of your resume, check with your state's one stop center or unemployment web site for information and tips on resume writing to help make it the best it can be. Some of these web sites are excellent and they can also help you explore training to make you elegible for more jobs both in your field or related fields. The economy is tough right now, but I think those that work at it will be ready when things turn around will be able to get good jobs, maybe better jobs, when the opportunity comes around. All the best to you, Bob! I hope everything work out!
Hello all,
New to this site. very very frustrated. Have been temping for the last 8 mos., the first 7 actually working, the last few weeks, spiratically working. Well, the first 7 mos. I was working, had to ask to be transferred to a different assignment, for different hours, we were having a very very bad streak of bad luck, we just paid about700 dollars on fixing the hubby's car, then a week later, it need another 1000 dollars in repairs, already spend rent money on the first part. So, we went and bought another car used, since I was working another assignment, full time, a week and a half later, they let me go. Now we have two car payments, rent and bills, one person working, not making much as it is, and having to pay a lot of child support at that. I have put in a lot of apps, been on many interviews even, don't know what to do. I need work, bad. I moved here to Iowa because I was in a bad money situation in Michigan, I do not want to live on the street ( or back then) in a pop camper, again. Any work suggestions, oh the only jobs that call be back are the min. wage, part time jobs, and I can't get unemployment because the last time they overpaid, help please?
The lack of any useful information here is a mirror of the lack of any decent paying jobs out there. The banks and the politicians who work for them have won. We're all slaves now.
You're completely correct. The only time things change is when WE change them. Things are worse than ever for working people while banks and corporations are reporting record profits all across the board. Last quarter was the highest rates of profit in the history of record keeping.
